Donna (Lyga) Borysewicz, 56, of Terryville, CT wife of Thomas Borysewicz died Saturday April 4, 2015 at Hartford Hospital after a courageous fight with chronic illness.

Donna was born May 24, 1958 in Bristol, CT and was a lifelong resident of Terryville, CT.  She was the daughter of Helen (Satkowski) Lyga of Terryville, CT and the late Daniel Lyga.  She was employed as a professional florist for over 20 years and was most recently employed by Shelter Logic of Watertown, CT, as a Customer Service Representative.  Beloved by everyone that knew her, Donna was recognized for her positive energy and vibrant spirit. Throughout her life, she actively volunteered for many different non-profit organizations always striving to help as many people as possible.  Donna had a passion for so many things but none more so than soccer, cooking and her family and friends.  Donna’s greatest love and joy was helping children by offering unconditional love and compassion. Her loving nature helped many children and she often became a mother figure in their lives.

Besides her husband and mother she is survived by her son, Joshua Thomas Borysewicz of Terryville, CT. Her daughter, Krista and her husband Lucas Cherry of Somers, CT.  Her brothers, Robert Lyga of Terryville, John Lyga of Basking Ridge, NJ, Richard Lyga of Terryville, Thomas Lyga of Southbury, and Daniel Lyga of Harwinton and their families. Her cherished grandchildren, Grace and Brooklyn Cherry and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, CT on Sunday April 12, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00PM.

Donations may be made to the Main Street Community Foundation to benefit the Donna Borysewicz Fund for Women. P.O. Box 2702 Bristol, CT 06011. With is with deep sadness I write these words of tears for the passing of sweet and kind Donna ..."Coach." Donna was a second Mom to my daughter Mary watching over Krista and Mary as they grew up together ...soccer, girl scouts, sleep overs, helping Sue ... just being there for everyone ... we on earth have lost such a kind and smiling soul while Heaven has gained a radiant angel from earth. Donna your smile has touched my soul ... thank you Donna for your love ... tears flow for your beauty of your soul and spirit ... thank you.

So sorry to hear about Donna, I remember all the trips to the beach. Her laugh and smile were contagious. I remember being able to make our own little flower boquets out of the discarded flowers at the florist she worked for. You will be sorely missed Donna but well remembered.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Donna's family in their loss. The Bible is known to be a book of comfort, and it is! Scriptures such as Revelation 21:4, John 3:16 and Acts 17:31 can give you comfort in stressful times. The resurrection hope is certainly something all humans look forward to. Donna, My heart is so heavy. I am so lucky to have known you for all these years. Work will never be the same without your smiling face. How am I going to get here when it snows?! :)
You have taught me so much but most importantly to live life to the fullest and do what makes me happy. Even through this difficult time I can feel your positive energy. I will do my best to continue your legacy by helping others, staying positive and living life to the fullest. Thank you for all you have taught me over the years. I will miss you and think of you always. I hope you are playing soccer, with a margarita in hand. :) Love Always, Danielle

I was so sad to hear about your mom. She had the best personality and laugh, and was always supportive and optimistic. No matter how long it had been since we had seen each other, she always made me feel like she sincerely wanted to know everything I had been doing. Thank you so much for sharing her with us. I hope you are able to find strength in each other, share your stories, and celebrate her the way she deserves. May you find healing in the love we all felt for her and the love she filled our world with.

I'm saddened to learn about my cousin Donna's passing. She had a zest for life and a laugh you'd love. Although I haven't seen much of the Lyga family lately, I have fond memories of our weekly Sunday visits when we were younger. I hope you run into your Uncle Eddy in heaven.

My the memories of her get you all through this difficult time.

May the family find comfort in loving memories, and in knowing that God is "close to those that are broken at heart; and he saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18) Our loving Creator, Jehovah God, has promised to soon "swallow up death forever...and wipe the tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25:8) With deepest sympathy.

All would agree that Donna was an inspiration to everyone she met. I had the pleasure of working with her at Shelterlogic, and she was always so upbeat and helpful. She never complained about discomfort or anything of the sort despite her health issues. I'm very saddened to hear the news and will always have wonderful memories of her. My blessings to the family and to all who love her.

Donna was one of my many cousins; She was the only sister of five loving brothers. She was a vibrant, active person like her family. At a family picnic, I remember how enthused she was when she spoke about working with youth soccer. Her smile and contributions to this world will be missed but never forgotten. She is at peace now, but her work must be continued by the people she helped. As we age we lose parts of lives but not the memories. I will remember her smile surrounded with flowers. RIP cousin Donna
