Emery D. Austin

Emery D. Austin, 85, of Terryville, husband of Karen (Elton) Austin, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Bristol Hospital. He was born March 18, 1939, in Waterbury, son of the late E. Oswald and Erma (Dellhime) Austin.

Prior to his retirement, Emery was employed by New Departure in Bristol. He was a member of the Terryville Congregational Church. He was also in the Fire Department in both Terryville, CT and Poultney, VT. Emery volunteered at the Plymouth Food pantry for many years. He enjoyed helping where he could in his community. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emery and Karen were just 3 months shy of celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary.

Besides his wife Karen, he is survived by his sons, Edman Austin and his wife Mary of Oakville, Donald Austin and his wife Renee of NY, and Randall Austin and his husband Gregory of NM; his daughters, Kathy Spring of NM and Kelley Austin and her partner Alan Mauro of Harwinton; his daughter-in-law Rose Austin of VT; his sisters, Lois Piotrowski of Terryville and Patricia Ashe and her husband Thomas of Terryville; his 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, 11 special grandchildren and 9 special great-grandchildren. Emery was predeceased by his parents, and his sons, Thomas and Daniel Austin.

Services for Emery will be Monday, July 1, 2024, at 1PM at the Plymouth Congregational Church, 10 Park St, Plymouth. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
