Evelyn Beachert, 82, of Terryville, died Thursday (July 7, 2016) at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Torrington.

Evelyn was born April 27, 1934 in Bristol, daughter of the late Linford and Emma (Retz) Beachert. Evelyn was a veteran of the U. S. Airforce retiring as a LT Colonel after 23 years. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a nurse for Waterbury Hospital, Aetna Life and the Red Cross. Evelyn was a 1955 graduate of the Waterbury School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Terryville and was a volunteer for the Terryville Library.

She leaves her sisters Dorothy Schreiner of Watertown, and Audrey Schipul of Harwinton: 5 nieces and nephews, and 8 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:30AM Saturday, July 9th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Terryville. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Terryville. Relatives and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Mustafa Ugurlu MD and the nurses and technicians at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for their compassionate care.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your sister, Evelyn. I have fond childhood memories of the Beachert family, and the North Avenue neighborhood where we lived many years ago.

So sorry for your loss. We were lucky to have Evelyn as a volunteer at the Plymouth Community Food Pantry. She will be missed.
