John L. "Honey" Vanoni, 76, of Bristol, former Terryville resident died Sunday May 15, 2016 at The Pines at Bristol.

Honey was born May 17, 1939 in Thomaston, CT, son of the late John and Jenny (Gotaski) Vanoni.  He was U. S. Army veteran. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a carpenter for Mark Sekorski General Contracting of Terryville.  He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville and member of the American Legion Plymouth Post #20.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Peter and MaryAnn Vanoni of Bristol; his sister, Rosemary Lawrence of Terryville; his sister-in-law Maureen Vanoni of Terryville and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Vanoni and brother, James Vanoni. The family would like to thank the staff at The Pines at Bristol. 

A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:30PM on Friday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville is in charge of arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com

Although I only got to know Mr Vanoni for a short time while working at the Pines, I found him to be a funny,cheerful person. While talking together we both realized our families knew each other so we were able to share some tales of days gone by. God Bless you Mr Vanoni and prayers to all your family members.

I will always remember Honey for so many reasons. The man had nine lives...all deserving as he was always so nice. RIP Honey...you were a legend in your time!
