Joan Mary (Henshaw) Mattice, of Terryville, widow of Franklin Mattice Sr., passed away early Wednesday morning (March 7, 2012) at Bristol Hospital with her daughter Elizabeth at her side.

Joan was born May 11, 1934 in NY, NY. She was the daughter of the late John Henshaw Sr and Helen (Kelly) Henshaw. Prior to her retirement she worked for the former O.Z. Gedney Co. of Terryville for 25 years.

She is survived by her children, Grace Mattice and her friend James Furmanski of Terryville, Elizabeth Gleason and her husband Gerald Sr. of Terryville, Rosemary Menegus of Terryville, James Mattice of Terryville, Christopher Mattice and his wife Libby of Colonie, NY; her special grandaughter who was more like a daughter, Rosanne Finkle and her husband Brett of Terryville; her sister, Dorothy Agriogianis of Franklin Square, NY; her foster sister, Ruthie Ermlich of Mt. Vernon, OH, and her brother, Thomas Henshaw of Kingston, NY. She also leaves her grandchildren , Loretta Donahue, Stacey Berry, Ethan, Kristine Gleason and her fiancea, Cyndi Belanger, Brenda and her husband Heath Johnson, William and Brittany Menegus, James Mattice Jr., Hailey and Colby Mattice, her step granddaughter, Donna and her husband Ronald Jennings, also a step grandson Gerald Gleason Jr. and his wife Heather, and her great grandchildren Bruce Silvernail and Michael Berry, Jaison, Jazmyn, Chloe, Zoe, Cassidy, Cheridan Johnson, Ember, Mary, Heather Finkle, Saraphina, Cody, Romeo, Nathanel, Hadees Mattice, her step grandchildren, Nina, Samantha, Kaicea, Amber Pittman, Ronald Jr. and Kylie Jennings, and Isabella Gleason.

She was pre-deceased by her sons, Douglas and Franklin Mattice Jr.; her brothers, James Wallace and John Henshaw Jr.; her foster brother, Fred Ermlich; her foster sister, Maryann Winters; her son-in-law William Menegus and her foster parents, Lillian and Fred Ermlich

I'm very sadden to hear of the loss of your mom, I always liked her and your dad, remember some funny time up in NY with Dougie and your family and are trip to Pa and NY. they always treated me like family, Love to all, I still think about Dougie and wonder if things would have been different, we always had fun together with your family. To Liz and family! so sorry for your loss. I just found out about your loss and am so sorry I was not able to attend the wake. Liz you were always there for my family when i was a kid and appreciate that and sorry i could not be there in your time of sorrow.
