William J. Markovich, 91, of Terryville, husband of Joan (Prystash) Markovich, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center in Torrington. He was born April 25, 1931, in Terryville, son of the late Rev. John and Pearl (Kaschak) Markovich.
Bill proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Turner and Seymour in Torrington. Bill was a member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church in Terryville, a member and treasurer of the former Ukrainian Club, and a member of the American Legion Plymouth Post 20. He loved fishing, wood working, and scrapping. Bill was also a big jokester.
Besides his loving wife Joan, Bill is survived by his son Timothy Markovich and his wife Sylvia of Terryville; his daughter Donna Madeley and her husband Al of Bristol; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Moore, Tamara Prystash and Gisele Markovich; his grandchildren, Timothy Ivan, Becca, and Brandi; his great grandchildren, Kevin, Mason, Charlotte, Christopher and Bradley and his dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his brother John Markovich, his brother-in-law Jeff Moore, and his great grandson Alex Fournier.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023, 10 AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church, 34 Fairview Ave, Terryville. Burial will be in the spring.
