Virginia “Ginny” Ann Gilbert, 68, of Thomaston, CT, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. She was born April 6, 1958, at Waterbury Hospital, the fourth child of the late Grover Earl Gilbert Sr. and Mildred Virginia (Galpin) Gilbert.
Virginia was raised in Thomaston and was a proud graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1976. She continued her education at Naugatuck Valley, Community College, earning her bachelor’s degree in 1987.
She dedicated many years of her life to her work. Virginia began her career with Scott DeBishop in Waterbury and for the Torrington Company in Watertown.
She also worked at Waring Products in Torrington, where she retired after 20 years. In addition, she served as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for 16 years, providing compassionate care to those in need.
Virginia was a faithful member of St. Peter’s- Trinity Church in Thomaston where she found comfort and community.
She is survived by her two sisters, Millie (Mildred) Gilbert Cunningham of Torrington and Joan Gilbert Montalvo of Waterbury, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her beloved, cat Zoey. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Grover Earl Gilbert Jr. and Frederick Leon Gilbert.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11 AM, at Saint Peters-Trinity Church, 160 Main St, Thomaston. Burial will be private.
