Theodora B. Douglas, of Bristol, wife of Robert C. Douglas, mother and friend, passed away December 4, 2024, at the age of 83, at home surrounded by family. She was born December 9, 1940, in Southington, CT, daughter of the late John and Veronica Breault.
Teddy was a graduate of Southington High School and attended Central Connecticut State University. She was employed by Southern New England Telephone Company and later retired from Bristol Hospital, where she had worked in the accounts payable department for 23 years. She was a member of St. Anthony Church in Bristol and St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church of Terryville.
Besides her husband of 58 years, Robert C. Douglas, Teddy is survived by her son Robert T. Douglas, daughter-in-law Tricia Douglas both of Bristol; granddaughter Heidi Donaldson, her fiancée Todd Baumberger, and great grandson Christian Donaldson, all of Bristol; sister Sandra Breault of Plainville, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Teddy had a big colorful personality, generous to a fault, and up for anything. She loved family and our big Holiday gatherings, where the espresso martinis flowed. So maybe while having that espresso martini this holiday season, think of her. She looked forward to her monthly breakfast soiree with friends and fellow retirees from Bristol Hospital.
She had a soft spot for animals, especially her Saint Bernards, Abby, Hilda, and Frieda Bear, also her “grand dog” Zoe. Not shocking that her favorite football team was the New Orleans Saints. She also loved her kitties, Bum, Vladimir, Dimitry and Puddin II.
Teddy had another love- shopping. Whether it was craft shows, fairs, or the mall with friends and family. QVC was a daily ritual, and Joan Rivers was a favorite. She had an amazing collection of nutcrackers, teapots, costume jewelry and Beanie Babies.
Some of her favorite times were traveling to New York City with her husband, Robert, especially around the holidays, attending Broadway Musicals, dining in fine restaurants, visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art and rooting for UCONN basketball at Madison Square Garden. While at home watching UCONN basketball and her beloved New Orleans Saints, she would cross her fingers through the whole game. Teddy lived a good life, she had love, family, friends and plenty of laughter. She will be missed dearly.
It was Teddy’s desire and instructions to her family that her funeral arrangements be private, a wish that will be honored by her family.
Her family would like to thank her physician, Dr. Margarita Reyes and her caregiver, Maria Pino for their loving care of Teddy, and the care team at Bristol Home Care and Hospice Agency, especially Waleska Gonzalez, RN.
The family also thanks the Scott Funeral Home in Terryville, for assisting with the arrangements.
