Surraiya Rahman, 76, of Bristol, CT, passed away on July 13, 2022. Surraiya was the matriarch of a large family who dedicated her life to taking care of everyone around her. Surraiya immigrated from Pakistan at the age of 25 over 50 years ago to pursue an education and obtained a Masters in Education from Villanova University. Thereafter she married Dr. Sayedur Rahman and moved to the Bristol area. Here, she raised three children and supported dozens more family members as they passed through the Rahman family home looking for a home filled with good food, care and love. With her strength, courage and strong sense of duty to family, she ensured that family member thrived. In the last decade, she was a devoted, loving grandmother who cherished every sweet moment with her three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father, Dilawar Masih; her mother, Sosan Masih and two brothers Amin Dilawar and Moeen Dilawar. She leaves behind her husband of almost 44 years, Dr. Sayedur Rahman and her three children Sadia Rahman, Saif Rahman and Saima Rahman; her two sons-in-law Kenzie DeLaine and Terail Slaughter; her beloved, beautiful grandchildren, Zaidan Rahman DeLaine, Zarika Rahman DeLaine and Kaira Slaughter; her siblings, Salim Dilawar, Shaheen Dilawar, Safina Dilawar, Gogi, Afreen Dilawar, along with over 21 nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main St, Terryville, on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 1pm. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville is assisting with the arrangements. https://www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
