Sister Melanie Adamski, 96, of Ohio, formerly of Terryville, passed away December 20, 2021. Born in Terryville on November 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Fannie (Napierkowski) Adamski.
She met the sisters during her school years at St. Casimir Parish. She later entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis in 1946.
Sr. Melanie spent the first half of her teaching ministry in Ohio and Michigan and the last twenty years at schools in Connecticut where she where she taught at both the elementary and high school levels. She retired from active teaching in 1997 and remained in Bristol, CT until 2021, when she moved to Marymount Place in in Garfield Hts, Ohio. After she retired, she got an opportunity to travel and spend two summers in Poland where she researched her Polish roots. Sr. Melanie will be remembered for her love of teaching and her global perspective of the church and the world.
Sr. Melanie is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Garfield Hts., Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held 10 am on Tuesday, January 11, at St. Casimir Church, 19 Allen St., Terryville.
