Shirley A. (OConnor) Ancel

Shirley A. Ancel (OConnor), age 92, passed away at West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Hartford, CT on May 8, 2025. Shirley was born in Michigan on March 28, 1933, daughter of the late Myron and Ellen OConnor.

Shirley retired from United Telephone, as a Directory Assistance Supervisor. She preferred spending time outdoors, planting and gardening, doing yard work or watching the bird feeders for hummingbirds.

She was pre-deceased by three sisters, Julie Mullett, Betty Imlay and Mary Ellen Strudwick. She is lovingly remembered by her son Ronald Sellers and his wife Lee of Bowdon, GA, daughter Patricia Phipps and her husband James, of Heflin, Al, and her son Paul Strickland and his wife Holly, of Burlington, CT. She is survived by her sister Zelma Milliron and her husband Delma, of Okemos, MI.

Her legacy lives on through 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
