Russell E. “Rusty” Sage, Sr., 73, of Plymouth, husband of Carol (Kulesza) Sage, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 12, 2023, He was born March 11, 1949, in Bridgeport, son of the late George Frank and Margaret (O’Neil) Sage.
Prior to his retirement, Rusty was employed by UPS of Watertown. He was an avid Lionel Train collector and loved to show off his massive toy train collection and layout. He belonged to the Train Collector Association and several other toy train associations. He was an active Ham Radio Operator who spent many hours talking with other operators all over the world. He loved being with his family and living at Lake Plymouth. Rusty was well known for his fantastic 4th of July firework displays over the lake. He was also a diehard Yankee and UConn Husky Basketball fan.
Besides his wife of 56 years, Rusty is survived by his son Russell Sage, Jr. and his wife Jill of New Hartford; his daughters, Cynthia Sage, Sandra Sage and her fiancée Joe Morelli of Plymouth, and Peggy Sage and her husband Frank Chappell of Bristol; his sister Linda Brewer and her husband Terry of Florida, their children Ted Brewer and Kristen Listro; his former sons-in-law, Mark Albino Sr., of Plymouth and Keith F. Bryant of Waterbury; his grandchildren, Kristina, Keith, Kelly, Mark, Sage, Alexandra, Jason, Ryan, Samantha, Madison and Jackson; his two great grandchildren, Khloe and Seth; his beloved cats, Amazon and Fluffy, and a large extended family.
