We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our matriarch Rose (Lacovara) Balowski suddenly on Saturday, November 25th, 2023. Rose was born in Bristol on August 4, 1930. She lived a majority of her life in Bristol and Terryville; In both towns she had a large amount of friends. Rose had a special community at the Terryville Congregational Church. She was the oldest of six kids, born to Christina and Leonard Lacovara. She was a hard working woman- kicking a press at Rowley Spring for many years and was a lunch lady at Plymouth Center School. But the job she was proudest of was being a mother and grandmother. She raised 3 children who were the light of her life until her last breath. She was a phenomenal cook, able to bake dinners and desserts that would rival any restaurant. One of her greatest joys was cooking for her grandchildren. If you came to visit you could expect to eat for hours and even then, she’d expect you to find room for a coffee. Rose loved being social and chatting around town with her many friends. She also loved to crochet and decorate and was always up on the most current events. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her son Joseph Jr, and her daughter Marilynn. She is survived by her son David, grandchildren Heather Balowski, Jessica and Kyle Faust, Ryan and Brittany Balowski, Michael and Cameron Balowski, Noah and Elizabeth Derohanian, Abby and Brendan Dion, Joey and Teotima Balowski, as well as 11 great grandchildren that were the light of her life. The family would like to thank all the staff and residents at Country Side Manor for the love they had for Rose. She will be missed by all that knew her. Calling hours will be Thursday, November 30th from 12-1pm at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, followed by a service from 1-2 at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Terryville Congregational Church in memory of Rose.
