Roberta (Collins) Marquis, 78, of Terryville, wife of Joseph Marquis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14th, 2023, at Bristol Hospital in Bristol, Connecticut. She was born November 11, 1944, in Portland Maine, daughter of the late Robert Nilsen and Eleanor Collins.
Prior to her retirement, Roberta was employed at the Terryville Town Hall in Terryville, Connecticut and by the Terryville Trust Company.
Besides her husband Joseph of 59 years, Roberta is survived by her sons, Robert Marquis (and partner Sue Ancher) of Rome Georgia, John Marquis (and husband Carl Meyer) of Manchester Connecticut and Matthew Marquis of Bristol Connecticut; her sister Sandra Wotton from Lady Lake Florida, her brother Bill Collins and his wife Ethel of Scarborough Maine, her sister Gunnhilda Lemon of St. Louis, Missouri, her brother Chuck Collins from Maine; her grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
We will always remember her for her infectious laughter, her timely and witty sense of humor, her love of baking and cooking (she was a REALLY good cook!!!), her soft, loving demeanor, and her love for family and friends. She was a true lady, generous without boundary. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone. She is a light that will never be extinguished in our hearts.
At Roberta’s request, there will be no calling hours, funeral or memorial services. In lieu of flowers, she asked that a donation be made to your favorite charity in her honor. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
