Robert Valentine Obituary

Robert J. Valentine, 77, of Bristol, husband of Nancy (Bendza) Valentine, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at The Summit at Plantsville. He was born January 20, 1947, in Bristol, son of the late James and Doris (Webb) Valentine.

Robert proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement, Robert was employed by New Departure of Bristol and GM plants in Indiana and West Virginia. He was a member of the Bristol Polish American Citizen Club and the Terryville Fish and Game Club. He was voted “Mayor of Matthews St” in Bristol by his loving neighbors, he was also a member of their Matthews St. Tractor Brigade. Robert was an avid fisherman and loved his antique cars, he loved to play golf at the Pequabuck Golf Course, and he enjoyed being at home with his family and friends. 

Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his son Robert J. Valentine of Bristol; his daughter Stacey Piper (Valentine) and her partner John Laprise of Bristol; his step-daughters, Kimberly Higginbotham of Bristol, Jeanine Pilon of Bristol, and Mandy Sullivan and her husband David of Southington; his brother Michael Valentine of MO; his grandchildren, Paige, RJ, Billy, David, Samantha, Taylor, Johny, Ava, Haley, and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his siblings Mary Jane Valentine and James Valentine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 6, 2024, 11 AM at The Immaculate Conception Church, 170 Main St, Terryville. Family and friends may visit at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, from 9 AM until leaving for church. Burial with military honors will be at Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
