Robert A. Gnitzcavich, 81, of Pequabuck passed away peacefully at The Summit at Plantsville on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Robert was born April 13, 1940 in Bristol, CT, son of the late Alfred and Mary (Bakunis) Gnitzcavich. He graduated from Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain in 1959. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965 during the Vietnam era. He was a lifelong toolmaker and worked for many years at Mackson Manufacturing of Bristol. Robert was an avid fisherman and hunter. He belonged to several fish and game clubs over the years and was a life member of the Thomaston Fish and Game Club. Robert was a diehard Yankees fan and during football season rooted for the Miami Dolphins.
Robert is survived by his sister, Ruth of Pequabuck and his brothers, John of Torrington, William (Susan) of Pequabuck, and Paul of Pequabuck. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his nephews Daniel (Cheryl) of Harwinton, Michael (Carla) of Torrington, Matthew (Joe) of Milford, Aaron of Pequabuck, and his niece, Kelly (Michael) Spring of Unionville. Robert will be greatly missed by his godson, Nicholas, as well as his other great-nephews, Sean and Derek, his great-niece, Marissa, a host of beloved relatives, and dear friends.
Services will be private. Scott Funeral Home of Terryville is assisting the family with arrangements.
