Richard “Rit” Mihalyak, 83, of Wolcott, CT. He was born on October 7, 1942. He was the son of the late Frank and Amanda (Berube) Mihalyak. He was predeceased by his wife Florence “Scotty” Mihalyak and sister Ruth Taggett. He was a Wolcott resident for 55 years.
Rit worked at Burrough Computers and also Prime Co. as a senior customer service representative. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing horseshoes, and car cruises with his classic T-Bird. He raised ducks and chickens also. Rit enjoyed traveling with his wife on cruises, cabin in Vermont, and visiting their special friend, Diane Johnson, who nicknamed him, Fuzzy.
Rit was a veteran from the US Army from 1964-1966 stationed in Japan. Rit was a member of the Bristol Fish and Game and American Legion.
Richard leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins; his special cousins Teri & Karli Norrie; and special friend, his next-door neighbor that he watched grow up from a little girl, Diane Johnson and her husband Craig, and their 2 boys, Zachary and Christian.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
