Raymond W. Dery

Raymond W. Dery, 69, of Bristol, husband of Sharon (Markie) Dery, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at home. He was born June 11, 1954, in Waterbury, son of the late Arthur and Virginia (Boucher) Dery.

Ray proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He grew up in Thomaston and settled in Terryville with Sharon to raise their family. Ray was a skilled laborer, helping his father paint in his younger years, and then taking great pride in the buildings he helped to sandblast. He was well known for being the life of the party and always had a good joke to crack. He liked to fish, spend time with his friends and family and was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan.

Besides his wife of over 35 years, Ray is survived by his daughter Jolene Dery and her fiancé Cody Abbate of Wolcott; his step-son Paul Grandbois and his wife Kristen of Terryville; his sisters, AnnMarie Synott and her husband Joseph of Thomaston, and Nancy Ouellette and her husband Lenny of Maine; his sisters-in-law Nancy Dery of Morris and Janet Healy of Pennsylvania; his grandsons, Macquire and Matthew Barber, his grand-dogs Grim and Tank, several nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend Bobby McNamee. Ray was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Amanda Dery, and his brothers Arthur Dery, Jr., and David Dery.
