Rae Anne Link Obituary

Rae Anne (Elwell) Link 91, widow of Robert Link, formerly of Terryville and Bristol, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 at LiveWell Residences in Plantsville, CT.  She was the daughter of Donald and Ethel Elwell, and was raised in the loving embrace of Frank and Ethel (Elwell) Adduci.

Rae graduated from Waterbury School of Nursing, Class of 1953, and was honored as recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award.  She had a rewarding career as a Bristol Hospital Operating Room Nurse.  Rae was always putting the needs of others before her own, as was evident in her co-creation and implementation of a Peri-op Orientation Program for children with an upcoming surgical procedure.

Rae was a member of the Terryville Congregational Church for 66 years, where she took on many roles including Deacon, Church School Teacher, Church School Superintendent, Youth Group Leader, Building Committee Member, “Church Mice” Member, and Church Moderator.  Rae was also active in the PTA, a Civil Defense Coordinator, and a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Her diverse interests always included family. Rae enjoyed worldwide travel, hiking, camping, backpacking, swimming, ice skating, bowling, gardening, playing cards and dominoes, and watching UCONN Huskies Women’s Basketball.

Rae was predeceased by her husband Robert and her brother Frank Adduci.  She is survived by her sister Rosalie (husband Barry Myers), three married children: Robert (Joyce) Link, Susan (Thomas) Zalaski, and Kurt (Jane) Link, six grandchildren who fondly call her Grandma Snazzy: Erin (fiancé Mike), Brian (Tonya), Jeremy (Patty Sue), Kyle, Sean (Andrew), and Karen (Mike), and five great grandchildren: Harrison, Hunter, Piper, Maddie, and Crew, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rae had a multitude of close friends, “to know her is to love her”.  She was truly a “Rae of sunshine” to the end with her humor, quick wit, and supportive words.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful LiveWell staff for their loving attention and excellent care, and to Rev Zack Mabe for his comforting visits and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Terryville Congregational Church Book of Remembrance, or the Appalachian Mountain Club.
