Patti Myer Obituary

Patti Ann (Chaffee) Myer, 73, of Terryville, passed away in the comfort of her home on July 25, 2025, after bravely facing a long illness.

She is survived by her dear friend and former husband, George Myer of Plymouth; her son, Brian Myer of Thomaston; and her daughter, Laura Myer, and her fiancé, Corey Brown, of Derby. Patti also leaves behind her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Debbie Myer-Nichols of Southbury; her sister, Donna (John) Knoche of Ridgefield; her brother, Gary (Mary) Chaffee of Berlin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she cared for deeply.

Born in Danbury on July 1, 1952, to Harold Chaffee and Marie (Bruciati) Garrison, Patti spent her early years in and around Stratford, Bethel, and Redding. She was a friendly and familiar face to anyone who stopped into the Blue Colony Diner in Newtown where she worked for over 40 years. Later in life, Patti worked at Roxbury Market & Deli before proudly returning to school and becoming a CNA–a role that drew on her love and deep empathy for others.

Patti’s proudest role though was being a mother. She was always present and went above and beyond for her children. She was the first person to volunteer to chaperone school field trips, enjoyed being her son’s Pack 75 Cub Scout Leader, and valued all the little moments like teaching her son to fish at the age of two and listening to her daughter play piano. She planned the most elaborate and unforgettable birthday parties, filled her home with happiness and good food like her famous meat sauce and spinach casserole, and never hesitated to do something, even if it was slightly whacky, as long as it was fun and created good memories for her kids.

Her favorite things were simple but rich in joy: pizza, lobster rolls drenched in butter, sweet treats, the company of her family, friends, and beloved pets, and, of course, the ocean. She could sit for hours in a beach chair enjoying the sights, sounds, and splashes of the sea and somehow never got a sunburn.

Patti was strong-willed, fiercely independent, and unapologetically herself. She was someone who loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. She will be missed, but may she finally find peace and a warm welcome at Heaven’s door from her dearest dad and her many cherished pups.
