Neil Murawski, 79, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away on February 12, 2025. Born on December 8, 1945, he was the son of the late Edward Murawski and Theresa (Zimbouski) Murawski. Neil is survived by his former wife, Cynthia (Yatsenick) Murawski (Burlington), brother, Robert Murawski (Terryville), son, Daren Murawski and his wife Juliana Murawski (Rocky Hill), son Brian Murawski and five grandchildren, Braeden, Austin, Giana & Mia (Rocky Hill) and Edie.
Neil graduated from Terryville High School and was the first of his family to attend college where he was a respected member of the Tau Alpha Epsilon fraternity and graduated with a degree in Business Education from Bryant College in 1967. Upon graduation he started his career as a business teacher (& swim coach) at Plainville High School before returning to his roots to teach at Terryville High School where he became President of the Plymouth Teachers Union. He ended his professional career as the Chairperson of the Business Department at Enfield High School. With over 30 years of education, Neil was very proud to call himself a teacher and having given back to the communities in which he lived and worked.
Outside of the classroom Neil looked forward to spending time with Cyndy, Daren & Brian. He supported them in their numerous endeavors and especially looked forward to family vacations in Cape Cod and Florida. He enjoyed spending time with Bob and Lorraine (brother & sister-in-law) and their children Doug Murawski and Debbie McGinn. Then there were the Friday night card games with the crew from Terryville High School that survived the test of time.
Neil’s love for warm weather and the water led him to retire to Florida where he lived in Tamarac and later Pompano Beach until his passing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Casimir Church, 17 Allen St, Terryville, CT, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Terryville. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
