BRISTOL – Mrs. Myra Boccardi Desroches, age 46 of Bristol, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, friends, and colleagues after an extended illness. She was the wife of Michael Thomas Desroches and loving mother to Ryland T. Desroches. She was a graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School, Saint Joseph College, West Hartford, CT for both undergraduate and graduate degrees, and Fairfield University for her Sixth Year Certificate in Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts.
Myra was born on October 5, 1975, in Bristol, CT, the daughter of Nancy (Seibert) Boccardi of Terryville and the late Francis Boccardi.
Her passion for literacy to advance young minds fueled her as a first-grade teacher for years at Linden Street School in Plainville, CT. In 2014, she stepped away from teaching at Linden for the birth of her son, Ryland. However, her passion soon found her as a literacy coach within Winchester Public Schools until her passing.
Myra’s unrelenting work ethic and humility defined her professionally and she was a woman with a simple elegance and courteous goodwill.
Left to honor Myra’s passions, love, and legacy are her husband and son, Michael & Ryland Desroches, her mother, Nancy Boccardi, of Terryville; her brother, Peter Boccardi (Audra), of Southington; her sister, Rebecca Boccardi Zappone (Marc), of Plymouth; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Peter), Riley, Jacob, and Zoe.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 2, at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main Street, Terryville from 5:00PM – 7:00PM and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 170 Main Street, Terryville; burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Terryville.
