It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother and friend.
Michael Porto, 65, passed away on December 26th, 2021, embraced by an abundance of love. He will be desperately missed by his wife and soulmate Diane.
Their love for each other was immeasurable. Mike's strength, courage and love of life were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Mike was an avid sportsman and fan. He loved playing football, baseball and tennis as a young man growing up in Wolcott. He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and was a longtime suffering NY Jets fan. He loved his home and caring for all his plants and gardens. He found great joy lake fishing and taking long walks with his wife along the Farmington River. His greatest joy was their time spent in Vermont and Cape Cod. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and whether at his job or helping family and friends, he always willingly gave 100%.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Richard Porto, his brother David Porto, and his sister Doreen Porto Santoli.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Diane; his mother Geraldine Hankey; his sister Deborah Velez and her husband Jaime; his sister Carol Wilton and her husband Paul; his sister-in law Suzanne Porto and several nieces and nephews.
His wife would like to give special thanks to Gina, Alan and Maureen, Margaret and Jim, his personal aide Zofia, and the entire Sprague family for all their unconditional love and support.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to CT Children’s Medical Center or CT Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital.
