Matthew Schultz passed away on September 16, 2021, age 65. A loving son, brother, and uncle, Matt struggled with mental illness for more than forty years. His high school years, during which he was the proud owner of a midnight blue ‘67 Shelby Cobra Mustang, were his happiest, and he loved working alongside his Uncles Bill and Jim Schultz at the Mayfair Garage in Terryville.
In death, he joins his heartbroken parents, Roy and Barbara Schultz, and his big brother, Mark, whom he always looked up to. He is remembered with great affection by his sister, Susan.
Many wonderful people, including social workers, pharmacists, administrators, doctors, and neighbors, recognized Matt’s underlying “good guy” nature and supported him over the decades, doing what they could to protect him from the parasitic elements who shamelessly exploited his illness and vulnerabilities. To the kind-hearted souls who helped him, Matt’s family owes their profound gratitude.
Services will be private. Matt will be buried with his parents, brother, and grandmother in West Cemetery, Bristol.
