Louis E. Collins Jr, 79, of Bristol, husband of the late Joann (Haskell) Collins, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2024, at The Hebrew Center for Health & Rehabilitation in West Hartford. He was born July 29, 1945, in Bristol, son of the late Louis and Thomasina (Galgano) Collins.

Louis proudly served in the US Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Louis was employed by CWPM in Plainville for over 30 years. Known by most as “Uncle Lou” or “Poppy”, Louis had a heart of gold and was always helping others. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but he loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

Louis is survived by his son Mark Collins and his wife Heather of Bristol; his stepdaughters, Paula Sampson of Bristol and Kim Brown-Pisarski of Terryville; his brother Thomas Collins of FL; his grandchildren, Steven, Justin, Jelisa, Austin, Noah and Kason; his great grandchildren, Sigrid Marie and Genevieve; his nephews, Gary, Jimmy and David and his wife Mary Fortier all of Bristol and many other extended family members. Besides his wife, Louis was predeceased by his son Todd Collins, his sister Eva Fortier and his nephew Glen Fortier.
