Leroy (Lee) Joseph Bernier, 79, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Leroy was born on November 3, 1946, in Fort Kent, Maine, a place that always held a special place in his heart.
In 1989, Lee met the love of his life, Christine, at a party at Corey’s Beach in Wolcott, Connecticut, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Together they built a life full of laughter, hard work, and adventure. Side by side, they ran their cleaning business, but their greatest joy was the life they created outside of work. Their happiest days were spent in Maine, camping whenever they could, traveling the coastline in search of lighthouses, and riding their mopeds along the scenic roads they loved so much. Maine was their place, their peace, and their shared dream.
Lee had a one-of-a-kind, quirky sense of humor that could light up any room. He loved to make people laugh, and even in his final days, he never lost that spark. His laughter, his jokes, and his playful spirit will be remembered by everyone who knew him.
More than anything, Lee’s greatest pride and joy was his family. In addition to his devoted wife, Christine Bernier, he leaves behind his four children, Kevin Bernier, Michele Pelletier, Sherry Corriveau, and Ryan Bernier (Loriann Mancuso), his sister Joyce Scott (Don Scott), his brother-in-law Francis Masterbone, his niece Kim Grandmaison (Andre Grandmaison), nephew Steven Scott, along with five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends who brought him endless happiness.
Lee lived life fully and never missed a chance to laugh. The memories he leaves behind will live on in every story told, every trip to Maine, and every moment of laughter shared in his honor.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lee’s life on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main Street, Terryville, Connecticut. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee’s honor can be made to Celebrate Recovery, Valley Community Baptist Church, c/o Ryan Bernier, American Eagle Financial Credit Union, Plainville CT.
Lee will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
