Leona (Bourdeau) Lydem, 88, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol. She was born August 20, 1937, in Watertown, eldest child of Medard and Anais (Biosvert) Bourdeau.
Leona worked for many years in the education system. She was a truly kind and wonderful person, who had a giving soul. She loved all of her family and friends and was loved by so many who knew her.
Leona is survived by her son, Thomas Rutkowski of Terryville; her fiancée Pat Yamonica of Thomaston; her brother Vick Bourdeau; her sisters Jane Zoolek and Dorothy Pompino and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Leona was predeceased by her bother Art Bourdeau and her sister Claudette Blade and her husband Ed.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, to St. Thomas Church, 1 E. Main St, Thomaston, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Thomaston. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 9AM until leaving for church. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
