On Friday, June 24th, 2022, Lawrence "Larry" Bouthot, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly, at his family’s home, at the age of 72. Larry was born on November 15, 1949, in Waterbury, CT to Reginald Bouthot and Annette (Frazier) Bouthot. Larry was raised in the Bucks Hill section of Waterbury, CT with his siblings Donald, Linda, Patty, Nancy, and Claudette and graduated from Terryville High School in Terryville, CT in 1969. Larry served in the US Army from November 12, 1969, through November 11, 1971. He was a Specialist Four, serving as an Assistant Machine Gunner and Driver in the Company A, 4th Battalion (Mechanized), 20th Infantry, 193d Brigade, at Fort Clayton Canal Zone in Panama.
Larry worked for 19 years at Anchor Fasteners in Waterbury, CT as a Header Foreman and then for several years at Truelove and Maclean (now H&T) in Waterbury, CT as a Maintenance Mechanic; he retired in December of 2015. On February 22, 1971, he married Leola (Harris) Bouthot. They made their home in Plymouth, CT where they raised two beautiful children, Larry Bouthot and Michelle Byrne.
Larry was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and compassionate spirit. He loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends and meeting up for weekly breakfasts. His home was the center of family celebrations and barbecues. He was known as “Poppy” to his four adoring grandchildren- Wyatt, Eastyn, Brooke, and Paige Byrne. He loved his family with all his heart and was always taking excellent care of them. Lawrence shared his passion for woodworking and carpentry by building sheds, gazebos, decks, and other home improvements.
Larry is survived by his wife, Leola; his son Larry; his daughter Michelle and husband Kyle- their children Wyatt, Eastyn, Brooke, and Paige; his brother, Donald Bouthot of Naugatuck, CT., and his sisters, Linda Anderson of Bristol, CT., Patty Cowette of Torrington, CT., Nancy Murphy of Plymouth, CT., and Claudette Plasczynski of Burlington, CT. He will also be missed by his cousins, nieces, and nephews, and friends.
A wake and Military Honors Ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Scott’s Funeral Home, 169 Main Street, Terryville, CT. Please send any flowers and donations for the family to the funeral home.
