Karen DiTomsso Obituary

Karen M. (Konopaske) DiTomasso 73, formerly of Bristol, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Karen was born in Bristol on May 3, 1949, to the late Emil and Mary (Lauretano) Konopaske.

She received her BA, MA, and 6th year degree in education, from CCSU.  She taught for 32 years in the Plymouth Public School system at Harry S. Fisher Middle School as an English teacher before retiring in 2006. Before her dementia diagnosis in 2018, Karen enjoyed gardening, reading, and visiting with family and friends. She was adored by her grandchildren Wyatt and Meadow and never missed a chance to come visit, always bringing them a little something to make them smile. Karen loved the holidays, and we know that she is finally at peace and reunited with her parents whom she missed dearly.  Karen will live on in the hearts of her family as a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother.

She is survived by her only son Brandon C. Zanauskas and daughter-in-law Michelle (Wood) Zanauskas, their children Wyatt and Meadow of Canton; her brother Thomas Konopaske and his wife Marlena (Teka) Konopaske of Terryville; a niece Tammy Lavenski and nephew Dr. Glenn Konopaske and their families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 5, at 11 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 170 Main St, Terryville. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Karen’s family at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, from 9 AM until leaving for church. A luncheon reception will be held at The Lyceum from 12-2.

In honor of Karen’s dedication to teaching and learning, donations in her memory can be sent to Collinsville Bank in Canton, care of Wyatt and Meadow Zanauskas to support the future education goals of her beloved grandchildren.
