Joyce Ann Krinitsky

Joyce Ann Krinitsky, age 71, of Terryville, CT passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, due to complications of pancreatic cancer.

Joyce was born on March 19, 1951, in Bristol, CT. She was the loving daughter of John and Lillian (Zalaski) Krinitsky, both of whom predeceased her. She was a graduate of Terryville High School, class of 1969.  She was very proud to be among the first class of women admitted to Trinity College, Hartford, CT, earning her Bachelor of Arts in 1973 and Master of Arts in 1976.  She continued her commitment to the college through very active participation in its alumni association; she was honored to have received its Alumni Medal of Excellence in 2018.  She was so looking forward to her fiftieth-class reunion this spring.

Joyce was a dedicated teacher at Harry S. Fisher Middle School, Terryville.  She then enjoyed a career in real estate.  She was very active in local, state and national politics and never shied away from a lively political conversation. Ever forthright, she faced her final illness with courage and determination. She will be missed.

She is survived by a sister, Cathryn J. Krinitsky, and her husband, John Swanke, of Terryville, and a brother, John G. Krinitsky and his wife, Wendy of Libertyville, IL. She also leaves a niece, Nora Krinitsky of Ann Arbor, MI, a nephew, Neil Krinitsky (Kathleen) and their children, Olivia and Maverick, of Tucson, AZ, and a nephew, Drew Krinitsky of Chicago, IL.  She leaves her dear, lifelong friend, Catherine Buxton Holmquist (Russell), many cousins, and her aunt and godmother, Henrietta Donato (Joseph).  The family would like to acknowledge with sincere gratitude Joyce’s steadfast friends and neighbors, Rosemary Morante, Janice Kozovich, Greg and Sue Duclos, Anna and Peter Reynolds, and Paul Schwanka,  who were invaluable to her during her illness and treatments.
