John "Butch" Lowe

John “Butch” A. Lowe, 80, of West Hartford, former Terryville resident, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Hebrew Center for Health & Rehab in West Hartford. He was born April 3, 1942, in Jersey Shore, PA, son of the late Bethea Agnes (Lowe) Griffith and was raised by his grandparents, Herbert and Thelma Lowe.

John proudly served in US Army during the Vietnam War as a military policeman. He was employed by the city of West Hartford as a police officer for 13 years and then Hartford Hospital as a security guard for 20 years. John was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He loved hunting and his family. He was a gun enthusiast and farmed in his younger years.

John is survived by his daughter Ruth Destan and her husband Usein of Bristol; his son Anthony Lowe and his wife Tanial of Keller, TX; his grandchildren, Aubrey and Alan Lancaster and Everett Lowe; his great grandson Luke Lancaster and many cousins in PA.
