John H. Dovitski, Jr., 63, of Woodford, VT, husband of Linda (Sampl) Dovitski, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 29, 2022, in Bennington, VT. Born in Bristol, CT on April 8, 1959, son of Arliene (White) Hamilton and the late John H. Dovitski Sr.

John started working with his father at an early age for Terryville Construction and continued in the industry starting his own Concrete business D&A. John was proud of the foundations he poured in Terryville and the surrounding areas in CT. He loved to point out the homes and business that he poured the concrete for. In 2009 John moved to Woodford, VT where he worked as concrete driver and carpenter for William E. Dailey-Precast in Shaftsbury, VT.

John had many side jobs including, Mountain Top Services along with his wife Linda, Trustee and Road Commissioner for the Woodford Lake Association, Town of Woodford Zoning/Planning and E911 Coordinator. He also was the Town of Woodford Assessor along with his wife Linda, Past President of the Woodford Snobusters and long-time member of the Polish American Political Club in Terryville, CT.

John was a hard worker and his love for Woodford VT was in his heart and soul. He loved people and would help anyone at any time day or night- he was there! His love for animals was such a gift, pet skunks, squirrels, chickens, ducks, cats, dogs – all were welcome in his home and heart. His loved for NASCAR, race cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATV’s- If it had a motor – he was on it- Driving it or fixing it. He was a man with a way of words, and we all knew those two words he loved the most!

John leaves behind his wife Linda, his animals Jennie, Shelby, Max and Woody and his children, John Henry III and his fiancé Heather, grandson Jameson Ian. Robert and his fiancé Jamie. Mother Arliene and his siblings; Donna and Rick Hansen and their children Katie, Kyle his wife Lindsay; Debbie Hebert and her children Garrett and Michelle; Randy Dovitski and Sharon Regan and her children Luke and David; Joel and Elizabeth Dovitski and their children Emily and Hannah; Lynn Dovitski and her children Justin his wife Elizbeth, Sami-Jo her wife Sierra and Savanna. Father, Stepmother, Brother and Sister in-law John Sampl, Phyllis Predzimirski, David Sampl and Lois Brooks, and his best friend and soul Brother Dave “Sunshine” Abamczyk and many cousins and great Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his 1st wife and mother of his children, Bonnie Dovitski, his Aunt Grace Judd and his brother-in-law Ben Hebert.

Calling hours for John will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, CT, from 10AM to 12PM, with a service at 12PM. A Celebration of his life will be held afterword’s at the Polish Club, 35 Bushnell St, Terryville, CT.

For all our Vermont Friends – we are having a “Celebration of John” this Friday August 5th after 5pm at the Pavilion at Woodford Lake Estates. Bring your stories and memories of John.
