Joel David Cerniglia, 65, of Terryville, husband of Donna (Monahan) Cerniglia, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Hartford Hospital. He was born April 21, 1958, in Southington, son of the late Sylvan Cerniglia and Ruth (Sanders) Holden.
Joel proudly served his country in the US Army for 4 years and then joined the National Guard. Prior to his retirement, Joel was employed by OZ Gedney in Terryville and Smith Medical in Southington. He loved to go fishing and to metal detect. He enjoyed spending summers with his family at Black Rock in Thomaston.
Besides his wife, Joel is survived by his son Joshua Cerniglia and his partner Rachel Holman of Bristol; his daughters, Jolene Monahan-Wilding and her husband Andrew of Bristol and Jessica Hawes and her husband Andrew of Terryville; his brother Mark Cerniglia of FL; his sisters, Debra Holliday of NB, Cheri Denmark of MA, and Laura Pacheco of AR; his grandchildren, Andrew, Jr., Gabriel, Ashlyn, Jordan, Caris, and Ronan; his good friend Brendan Donahue, his special nephew Patrick Morin, cousin Harry Paris, and aunt Judy Tallman and several more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joel was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Caren Morin, Cynthia Thomas and Steven Cerniglia.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, 1 PM at the Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main St. Military honors to follow. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, is assisting with arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
