Joan L. (Rotslaf) Armbruster Hebert, 92, of Terryville, wife of the late Alfred “Soup” Armbruster, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at Jerome Home in New Britain. She was born July 26, 1933, in Bristol, daughter of the late Carl and Rose (Norton) Rotslaf.
She was an avid Agricultural Fair goer, watching her husband and children pull oxen and then her grandchildren. The past few years she enjoyed watching her great granddaughters show their goats at many fairs and her great grandsons dance at the Terryville Fair. Through her years, she worked at the cafeteria at the high school, running the snack shack. Most Terryville residents knew her from multiple restaurants that she waitressed at for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; she sang in the choir and was also a soloist. She loved working at the voting polls as a checker in Terryville, because she was able to see and talk to many people. She loved square dancing and polkas and belonged to the German Club in Bristol for many years.
Joan is survived by her son Carl Armbruster and his wife Dawn, of Terryville; her daughter Cheryl Armbruster of Terryville; her grandchildren, Timothy Armbruster and his wife Kelly and their children Lexie and Cadance of Roxbury, and David Armbruster and his wife Brandy and their children Edward and Elliot of Terryville; and her nephew Wayne Harbart of Hinsdale, NH.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 11AM at Hillside Cemetery, Terryville. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
