Jeannine Agnes (Belanger) Jandreau passed away peacefully at home on July 19, 2023, in Windham, CT at the age of 82. Jeannine was born in Waterville, Maine on July 30, 1940, to the late Jerome and Mary Jane (Compagnon) Belanger. She attended and graduated from Mount Merici High School in Waterville, ME and often regaled her family with fond tales of schoolmates and teachers from those years. Jeannine was predeceased by her husband Edwin “Wayne” Jandreau after 61 years of marriage, as well as her brothers Ronald and James Belanger. She is survived by her three loving daughters and daughter-in-law: Janet Jandreau of Vernon, CT, Jane Jandreau and her wife Julie Gerry of Windham, CT and Jennifer Tabak of Vernon, CT; her three beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole and Molly Tabak; and her cherished sister Betty Rancourt of Winslow, ME.
After Jeannine and Wayne married, they settled in Terryville, CT and built their life and family. Jeannine focused on raising their three daughters while working part time. Most notably, she loved her role as “Mrs. J”, everyone’s favorite school bus driver. She had an innate ability to know exactly what everyone on her bus was up to at every moment, all while navigating roads all over the state of Connecticut. It wasn’t unusual for her to bring a snack or pack a lunch for a student she knew may not have the resources to bring their own.
Many may remember Jeannine from working at the Ben Franklin store, where she escalated quickly to the role of manager. She brought to her role at the store her unmatched passion for doing crafts, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She took such pride in her handmade projects, many of which were created as gifts for those she loved. Jeannine also cherished her years involved with the Democratic Town Committee, frequently chosen as the chairperson and serving terms as the Tax Collector and on the Board of Education. She was passionate about doing what was best for her town and worked tirelessly to make sure that she served to the best of her ability.
Without a doubt, her proudest and favorite accomplishment was as a “Memere” to her precious grandchildren, whom she babysat regularly and was extremely close with. She took so much pride in their activities and milestones and never missed an activity, performance or ceremony.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, CT on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 6-8pm. A private burial will be held at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
