James W. Brainard, 66, of Bristol, husband of Donna (Clark) Brainard, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. He was born December 20, 1957, in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Willard Brainard and Joyce Pickering.
Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed by Torrey S. Crane in Plantsville. He was very handy and enjoyed fixing everything from appliances to small engines. He was a “Jack of all trades.” Jim was a great role model to his son Ryan. He was kind and generous with a big heart, always lending a hand when needed. During his short retirement, Jim and his brother-in-law, Pat enjoyed searching for the best homefries Connecticut could offer.
Besides his beloved wife, Donna, Jim is survived by his sons, Ryan Bernier of Bristol and James LeBel of New York; his sister Bonnie Brainard Letitia and her husband Marty of Plymouth; his nephews Michael, Ryan and Dylan Michaud all of Bristol, and many extended family members. Jim was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Gerald and Jack Brainard, his sisters, Debbie and Dotty Brainard and Tammy Pickering.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 11 AM, at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, CT. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, October 7, 2024 from 6-8PM. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
