Gary J. Reed, 77, of Terryville, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, with his loved ones at his side. Born on January 23, 1945, in Waterbury, son of the late Edgar and Lillian (Edmond) Reed.
Gary proudly served his country in US Navy on the USS Eaton, during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Gary was the Fire Lieutenant for the City of Bristol and worked with the Bristol Fire Department for over 30 years. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Plymouth Post 20, former Director of the Wolcott State Fire School, Assistant Chief of Terryville Fire Department for over 20 years, a member of the Polish American Political Club of Terryville, the Torrington Elks Club, and the Bristol Retired Firefighters Association.
Gary is survived by his son Robert Reed of Terryville; his daughter Julie Reed of Naugatuck; his significant other Joyce Ashley of Terryville and her children Scott and Tammy Brown and Joyce’s grandchildren; his former wife, Alison Reed of Terryville; his sister-in-law Linda Reed of Orleans, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald Reed and John “Jack” Reed. A special Thank You, to Maxine and Breigh for all their care over the years.
