Gary Plourde, 75, of Terryville, beloved husband of Nancy (Testa) Plourde passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Midstate Hospital in Meriden. He was born November 16, 1949, in Bristol, son of the late Cecil and Lucille (Clukey) Plourde. A Bristol resident for many years, Gary graduated from Bristol Central High School in 1968 and then entered the United States Army and served as a medic during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, Gary worked for New Departure and the Barnes group until his retirement. Gary had a great love for casino trips with his wife, Nancy, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and of course, his cats. He also enjoyed watching the Yankees and UConn basketball.
In addition to his wife, Nancy of 52 years, Gary is survived by his daughter, Kari Plourde and her partner, Karen; four brothers and sister in laws: Douglas and Deb Plourde, Bruce and Vicki Plourde, Dean and Cathy Plourde, Steven and Sandy Plourde; two sisters: Margaret Monahan and her partner, Bob, Pamela Labadia; his brother in law, Rey Ouellette; his sister in law and her husband: Janice and Leonard Nowak; his grandchildren: Jack and Cooper Kraemer-Plourde and Sophia Plourde; a very special family friend, Sue King; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Plourde; his sister, Coreen Ouellette; and his brother, Rick Plourde.
A Mass of Christian Burial with military honors will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 10am, at St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol. The family would like to thank the Veterans’ Association and Bristol Hospital for their care throughout Gary’s life and in his final weeks.
