Florence “Scotty” (Scott) Mihalyak, 83, of Wolcott, wife of Richard “Rit” Mihalyak, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Vitas at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was born January 16, 1941, in Bristol, daughter of the late Edward D. and Louise C. (Casineri) Scott.
Prior to her retirement, Scotty was employed with SNET for 28 years. Scotty and Rit loved to go on cruises all over. They enjoyed going to Florida to see their special friend, Diane Johnson. Scotty was a member of the Wolcott Red Hats Society. She loved to knit and enjoyed being with her knitting group of ladies at the Wolcott Senior Center.
Besides her husband Rit, of 52 years, Scotty leaves behind many cousins; Rit’s many nieces, nephews and cousins; their special cousin Teri Torvinen; and their special friend, their next door neighbor that they watched grow up from a little girl, Diane Johnson and her husband Craig, and their 2 boys, Zachary and Christian.
Richard would like to thank palliative APRN Jennifer Colucci, nurses and doctors at St. Mary's Hospital.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
