Eleanor Jean (Latulipe) Barberet, 93, formerly of Plymouth, died Monday, February 14, 2022, after a short illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred L. Barberet.
She was born in Torrington, CT on January 5, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Edgar Sr. and Viola (Leonard) Latulipe of Torrington and grew up on Torringford West Street. She graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and taught elementary school in Thomaston for several years.
She and Al built a new home on North Street in Plymouth, where she lived for over 50 years. She loved her home and the ever-changing beauty of the natural world there. She enjoyed classical music and antiques, but reading was her passion, and she loved spending time in many CT libraries. She was also a long-time communicant of the Plymouth Congregational Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise Barberet of Chicopee, MA; a son, Dana A. Barberet and his wife Erika of Southport, NC; a granddaughter, Brianna E. Jorgensen and her husband James of Coventry, RI; a great-granddaughter, Ari Jorgensen of Coventry, RI; and brothers, Bruce Latulipe and Edgar Latulipe Jr. and his wife Joanie of Torrington, CT, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Latulipe of Harwinton, CT.
The family will hold a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston in the springtime. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St. Terryville is assisting with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation, Terryville, CT or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
