Edna D. (Hannis) Kirkby, 95, of Southington, former Bristol resident, widow of Carl E. Kirkby, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Southington Care Center in Southington. She was born August 31, 1928, in Gloucester, England. Daughter of the late Porcival M. and Doris (Williams) Hannis.
Edna was a graduate of the Ribston Hall High School for Girls in Gloucester, England. Prior to her retirement in 1991, she was the Secretary for the Town of Plymouth. Edna was a member of the Terryville Congregational Church. She loved to knit, and she loved her family dearly.
Edna leaves behind her son Kenneth Kirkby and his wife Janet Kirkby of Southington; her grandchildren, Kristen Michalski, Karen Lamothe, Laura Gezelman, Jennifer Mardin, Sarah Thompson and Andrew Kirkby; her great grandchildren, Kaylie and Alyssa Masi and Julianna Mardin, Seth, Morgan, and Allison Thompson and Cameron Wheelock, Robert Mosback IV, Ashley and Aidan Gezelman, and Sienna, Calla, Clark, and Sydney Michalski. Besides her husband Edna was predeceased by her sister Betty Whittier, her son Stuart E. Kirkby, her daughter Susan C. Skarp and her grandson Michael Kirkby.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, 11 AM, at the Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main St, Terryville. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Terryville, Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
