Dorothy (Christophy) Nold

Dorothy Christophy Nold, of Winter Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born on May 21, 1931, at her family's farm in Harwinton, Connecticut, Dorothy was the last surviving child born to John and Barbara Christophy. She grew up in the faith of the Russian Orthodox Church with the values of hard work, determination, and independence that shaped her remarkable life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Nold formerly of Bristol, and by her faithful friend and devoted caregiver, Jerry Banks, whose companionship and compassionate care were a blessing during her later years.

A successful businesswoman, Dorothy built her career as a property developer. She possessed a keen business sense, a quick mind, a compassionate hand, and an unwavering determination that earned the respect of those who knew her. She managed her affairs with confidence and wisdom while maintaining the independence that defined her character.

Dorothy was also an accomplished and avid painter whose artwork reflected her creative spirit and appreciation for beauty. An enthusiastic traveler with Marty, she delighted in discovering new places and experiences throughout her life.

While she found success in business and fulfillment in her artistic pursuits, her greatest joy was her family. She was deeply devoted to her nieces and nephews, taking genuine interest in their lives and celebrating their accomplishments with love and pride. Her generosity, guidance, and steadfast support created bonds that will endure for generations to come.

She will be remembered for her intelligence, strength, artistic talent, adventurous spirit, and fierce independence. Dorothy lived life on her own terms, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, love, and countless treasured memories.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10AM, family members are invited to a private viewing at Scott Funeral Home in Terryville.  Public visitation begins at 10:30AM concluding with the Orthodox “Parastas” liturgy.  Burial will immediately follow at Saints Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Cemetery, Terryville.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who offered Dorothy friendship, kindness, and compassionate care throughout her life. Though she has departed this earthly life, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.  May the blessing song our family sang together each Christmas Eve accompany our much-loved Dorothy into the presence of the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, “now and forever unto ages of ages.  Amen.”
