Dorothy (Grabelski) Mackiewicz

Dorothy (Grabelski) Mackiewicz, 97 of Terryville, wife of the late Henry Mackiewicz, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, at her home in Terryville. She was born January 11, 1929, in Terryville, daughter of the late Vincent and Stella (Jarosz) Grabelski.

Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Casimir Church in Terryville, she was a member of the Women’s Guild, and the Terryville Plymouth Senior Center. She was also a volunteer at the Lock Museum. She loved her family and spending time with them as much as possible.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved family. Her son James Mackiewicz and his girlfriend Helen Rose Spino of Columbia, TN; her sister Helen Campbell of Brookfield, CT; her grandchildren, Dawn Switser and Doug, Rick Makara and Nancy, Leanne Kozon and Mark, Robin Morin and John, Brian Mackiewicz and Cassandra, and Jason Mackiewicz and Heather; her 12 great grandchildren, Heather, Erica, Aaron, DJ, Leah, Kelsey, Emily, MJ, Alex, Alyssa, Gianna and Derrick; four great-great grandchildren, Philip, Margaret, Isabelle and Elizabeth and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides her parents and her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her son Robert Mackiewicz, her daughter Dona Makara and her sister Bernice Young and her brother Carl Grabelski

Her grandchildren were her greatest treasures and the lights of her life with whom she enjoyed spending time with.

The family would like to send a special thank you for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Dorothy by Cathy, Helena and Fred.  And also a very special thank you to her great granddaughter Erica who has been taking care of her for the past couple of years. 

Funeral services will be held from the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00AM until leaving for St. Casimir Church Terryville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
