Dolores “Laurie” G. Marconis (Zetarski) of Terryville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 29, 2021.
Laurie was born on August 3, 1939, in Hartford, CT. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence “Steg” and Blanche (Bechard) Zetarski. She grew up in Bristol before getting married to the late Gerald Marconis and raising their family in Terryville.
She enjoyed her career at the Terryville Public Library for 39 years, where she made many lifelong friends and was a “dedicated employee that always went the extra mile and gave more than she took.” She was a member of the Connecticut Library Association and the Friends of the Terryville Library, retiring in June of 2019.
Laurie was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She had a warm welcoming nature and was the heart and soul of her family. She was always there to listen, help in any way she could and continuously put others before herself. Her sense of humor, famous one liners and contagious laugh brought joy and smiles to everyone around her. Family was everything to Laurie and she is and always will be everything to them.
She is survived by her children, Scott Marconis of Terryville, Keith Marconis and his wife, Julie of Terryville, and Lisa Stevens and her fiancé, Tim Calder of Barkhamsted; her brother Kenneth Zetarski and his wife, Diane of Bristol; her grandchildren Jaime, Kevin and Kelsey Marconis, Amanda, John, and Haley Stevens; and her great-granddaughters, Juliana and Mia. She also leaves several nieces and a nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 3, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 170 Main Street, Terryville. Anyone wishing to attend the Mass please go directly to the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Terryville. Relatives and friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main Street, Terryville Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Laurie’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the tender loving care provided to her by their private duty aides and the staff of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County.
In the spirit of Laurie’s passion for spreading the joy of reading and helping others, the family is asking that memorial donations be made to the Friends of the Terryville Library, 238 Main Street, Terryville.
