David Chasse Obituary

David James Chasse, 68, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a very courageous battle with cancer.

David was born in Southington on Oct. 20, 1955 to the late Henry & Theresa (Daigle) Chasse and grew up in Terryville where he attended Terryville High School Class of 1974.  In 1983 he moved to Bristol where he resided until his death.

Dave was employed by O.Z. Gedney in Terryville for over 25 years, working in the foundry until the company’s closing in 2002.  He was retrained in HVAC under the NAFTA act and worked for Sears Roebuck for a short time and then worked for C&C Hydraulics in Wolcott until his retirement in 2022.

Dave was a jack of all trades, enjoyed fishing and sitting around a campfire in his backyard with his son David Brandon.  We will always cherish the memories of our family’s annual Labor Day Lobster picnic, a tradition that Dave began at his home in 1996.  This family event will not be the same without him.

Dave is survived by his son David Brandon Chasse and his son’s mother Marie Graziano, who both lovingly cared for him and honored his wishes to be at home.  He is also survived by his siblings, Ricky (Joyce) Chasse of Glastonbury, Dianne Chasse of Ewing, NJ, Donald (Leslie) Chasse of Brooklyn, Karen (Dan) Lyga, Linda (Terry) Russell, Brenda LeFebvre and Janice Wentland all of Bristol.  His Godchildren, Kimberly Byko, Justin Chasse, and Sarah Benham.  Nieces and Nephews, Carrie Strauss, Jason Byko, Kyle Rodgers, Donnie and Leah Chasse, Matthew and Kathryn Lyga, Brooke LeFebvre, Chad Wentland, Danielle Johnson, Nicolle Dougherty and Nicole Pacheco.  Along with his parents, Dave was pre-deceased by nephew, Jamison Chasse and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Wentland.

Our family would like to thank HOCC Cancer Center and HOCC at Home especially Dr. Wylie Hosmer, Erin Hurlburt, R.N., and Michelle Brino, R.N for the compassionate care and support for Dave and his family throughout his illness.

A memorial service will be held Saturday 1PM at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville.  Relatives and friends may visit prior to the service from 11AM to 1PM.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Terryville.  www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
