Carol (Bishop) Kohl, 85, of Terryville, widow of Edwin C. Kohl, Sr, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol. She was born June 27, 1939, in Bristol, daughter of the late Earl and Anna (Vanoni) Bishop.
Prior to her retirement, Carol was employed by the former Wallace Barnes Co. (Associated Spring) in Bristol for over 30 years. Carol loved being around people and was a natural caretaker to those she met. There was rarely a birthday or other milestone she failed to recognize. It was not uncommon for her to bring lunches to coworkers or to invite recent acquaintances to family gatherings. She did not know the definition of a stranger. Carol proudly served 21 years as a Marine Corps wife. Her role as a Mother, Grandmother, and eventually a Great-Grandmother were her favorite titles. Carol adored her family dearly.
She is survived by her sons, Edwin C. Kohl, Jr. and his wife Renee of Kure Beach, NC, and Russell Kohl of Terryville; her granddaughter Katelynn Kohl and her fiancée Dustin Pagano; her grandson Carson Kohl; her great grandchildren, Oakley and Hallie and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Carol was predeceased by her siblings, Earl “Pokey” Bishop and Arlene Bishop.
The family would also like to thank the entire staff at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol for their compassionate care throughout her time there.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 18, at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at 10 AM. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville, is assisting with the arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
