We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Carol A (Evans) Berry dear wife of Frank J Berry, they were married for 56 years. At the age of 74, she passed away peacefully on the evening of December 30, 2022, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Frank and Carol met when they were 17 and 21 years old. Their story began in May of 1966 when Frank was driving along Lake Plymouth. While cruising around in a 1957 Chevrolet convertible, that was owned by his brother – he reluctantly let Frank use it - he spotted Carol. Years earlier, he had a vision of what his wife would look like, and when he saw Carol, he knew she was the one. He immediately turned the car around and introduced himself. This moment is when their love began. Not long after, they eloped with $50 in their pocket and were married in Copake, NY on October 29, 1966.
Carol enjoyed time with her best friend Frank, taking rides to see the beautiful New England landscape and eating Lobster Rolls at Bills Seafood Restaurant. She enjoyed gardening, feeding hummingbirds, cooking and crafting for her family, and had a love for animals—especially her great grand dog Remy. In the words of her sister Jean Graf, “she was all about family from day one.” She enjoyed the holidays and always put so much effort into Christmas where she was fondly referred to as Mrs. Christmas.
She is survived by her three lovely daughters and their spouses: Tammy Drugan (Jeff), Heidi Stancavage (Joe), and Cathy Johnson (Josh). Each daughter and son-in-law held their own special place in Carol’s heart. She is survived by her grandchildren and their spouses: Allen Senechal (Lindsey), Frank Senechal (Yanira), Brittany LeBlanc (Jeremy), Joey Stancavage (Cameron), and the love of her life—her Great granddaughter Maeve LeBlanc who brought her so much joy!
Carol is survived by her mother, Cecile Plawecki, her sisters Bonnie Marien, Jean Graf and Jane Dubois and brother Daniel Evans. She was predeceased by her beloved brother David and Paul Evans. A special thanks is owed to her sister, Jean Graf, who was of great help to Carol, Frank, and their family in the final months.
The Celebration of Life for Carol Berry will be held at the Lyceum in Terryville on Sunday, January 15th from 2-5 p.m. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, is assisting the family with arrangements. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
