Carl Aubin Obituary

Carl Edwin Aubin Sr., 74, of Terryville, beloved husband of the late Rosemary (St. John) Aubin, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, surrounded by the family who meant everything to him. He was born on December 20, 1951, in New Britain, the son of the late Wildy and Josephine (Kubala) Aubin.

Carl spent many years working at Holo-Krome before retiring. He also proudly volunteered with the Fall Mountain Fire House Station #3 in Terryville, always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Carl was known for his kindness and generous and joyous spirit. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to help someone in need. His home was always open — if someone needed a place to stay, a warm meal, or simply someone who cared, Carl was there. Over the years, many people came to see him not just as a friend, but as a father figure in their lives.
Carl had a way of turning strangers into friends in no time at all. Anyone who met him was quickly welcomed with his easy smile and genuine warmth. Wherever he went, he brought a sense of familiarity and humor with him — often announcing his arrival with his well-known phrase and big, unmistakable voice, “Honey, I’m home!”, which never failed to make those around him smile.
He had a special talent for fixing just about anything. In the family, it was often said, “If Popi couldn’t fix it, nobody could.” Whether it was tinkering in the garage, plowing snow for neighbors, or figuring out a problem no one else could solve, Carl took pride in helping others. He loved the simple things in life — a fishing pole in his hand, a cigarette and a Mountain Dew nearby, and a good UCONN Women’s Basketball game on TV. But more than anything, he loved time spent with his family and friends.

Carl leaves behind his loving children: Norman Aubin and his wife Holly of Bristol, Travis Aubin and his wife Sandy of Bristol, Jennifer Aubin of Terryville, and Carl Aubin Jr. of Terryville.
He was a proud grandfather to Nicole and her husband Tom, Ryan, Courtney, Jade, AJ, Justus, Jazlyn, and Joshua, and a cherished great-grandfather to Lillianna, Weston, and Isabella.
He is also survived by his brother Alan Aubin and his wife Grace of North Carolina, his sisters Connie Aubin and Celly McKinley of Terryville, his longtime fishing partners Rick, Roy, Mark, and Ryno, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Rosemary, Carl was predeceased by his brother Andrew Aubin and his brother-in-law Russell McKinley.

“To his family he was ‘Popi’ — the man who could fix anything, make a friend anywhere, and whose big, unmistakable voice calling out ‘Honey, I’m home’ will echo warmly in their hearts. Now reunited with his beloved wife Rosemary, we imagine him casting a line and fishing peacefully forever.”
