Arnold Arthur Tonn, 94, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Pines at Bristol. He was born in Bristol on August 30, 1927, son of the late Edward and Alvina (Behrendt) Tonn.
Arnold attended Bristol schools. He served in active duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a resident of Harwinton for the past 30 years. Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed as a carpenter, and earlier had worked at Stanley Industrial Components and The Ingraham Co. He was a life-long member of the Bristol Fish & Game. An avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, horseman, gardener, and in his later years, was a contestant in tractor pulls at the local fairs.
Arnold is survived by his brother, Kenneth Tonn and his wife Sandy of Terryville; his sister-in-law Betty Tonn of Ft. Wayne. IN; his niece Linda (Jim) Prior; his nephews, Daniel Tonn, David (Kimberly) Tonn, Roy (Beverly) Zurell, Ron (Ann) Zurell, Jeremy (Laura) Zurell, Jessica (Josh) Lessard; and special friends, the Mark Brenner family and Tony Krawiec. Arnold was predeceased by his brothers, Leonard Tonn, baby Walter Tonn, and sister Ruth (Arnold) Zurell. A special thank you, to the staff at The Pines at Bristol for their care and compassion.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 11 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow St, Bristol. Burial will be in West Cemetery, Bristol. Friends and relatives may call at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
