Alice (Woike) Colburn, 91, of Forestville, CT passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at Ingraham Manor in Bristol, after a brief illness. She was born on October 31, 1933, in Bristol, daughter of the late Paul and Julia (Krinke) Woike. Alice is survived by her son James Colburn and his partner Janet Caron of Avon; her daughter Laurie Colburn and her significant other Mark Gibson of Bristol; her grandson Matthew Caron of Burlington; a niece, several nephews, and extended family and friends. Alice was predeceased by her siblings, Arthur Woike, Anne Woike, Arnold Woike, and Anita (Woike) DiVita.
Alice lived a full and vibrant life. She was loving, easy-going, young at heart and touched the hearts and lives of many along her life’s journey. Prior to her retirement, she was the Assistant Town Clerk in Farmington. After her retirement she enjoyed socializing with friends and family and traveling to other states and Europe.
Always faithful, she studied and became an ordained spiritual minister. She traveled near and far to preach the word of God. Alice was a long-standing member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Terryville. She taught Sunday School classes and served on many committees. Alice was a talented artist and shared her gift creating beautiful pieces of art for the church crafters groups, as well as for friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 134 Main St, Terryville. A private burial will be held in West Cemetery, Bristol, in the Spring. Family and friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St, Terryville from 10 AM until leaving for church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 134 Main St. Terryville or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
